FOR SALE: 700 Rounds of Surplus 7mm Mauser featuring some corrosion and other defects (best used for components; shoot at your own risk)
The 7×57mm Mauser (designated as the 7 mm Mauser or 7×57mm by the SAAMI and 7 × 57 by the C.I.P.) is one of the earliest smokeless powder rimless bottlenecked rifle cartridges. It was invented by the prolific Paul Mauser of his eponymous Mauser company in 1892 and notably, in 1893, adopted by Spain as a military cartridge. Shortly thereafter, several other countries adopted 7mm Mauser as their standard military cartridge. Despite the fact the round is now obsolete as a military cartridge, it still remains in widespread international use as a sporting round for intermediate and large game in some of the finest European hunting rifles. Originally known in Britain as the .275 (since British cartridge nomenclature designates caliber in inches), the 7mm Mauser is now best known as a popular stalking cartridge and some extremely beautiful sporting rifles were made–and in some instances, still made–by the finest British riflemakers, such as John Rigby Holland and Holland, Westley Richards and others.
We strongly advise against shooting this ammunition without professional examination and extreme caution. Understand that caution dictates many if not all of these rounds should not be shot at all. Many of these rounds are extremely corroded. Some feature congealed (and therefore immobile/unstable/stagnant) powder. Others, however, seem perfectly fine. This does not mean that any of them are safe for shooting. Please understand that shooting surplus ammunition is implicitly dangerous, and shooting ammo featuring visible corrosion and discoloration is even moreso. USE AND SHOOT AT YOUR OWN RISK.
This ammo is most suitable for use by a savvy reloader. The components themselves are very very very expensive, and we are selling this ammo for well less than half the price of the next cheapest 7mm Mauser. So pulling the bullets and cleaning up the brass is by all accounts a really smart move.
The pictures of this item are fairly representative of the condition of the rounds. Whereas each case contains 700 rounds, some cases may be in better or worse shape than others. Be advised that the condition of these rounds is reflected in the price.
